چکیده

The wave runup height is one of the most important parameters for affecting design coastal structures such as dikes, revetments, and breakwaters. In this study, SWASH (Zijlema et al., 2011), a non-hydrostatic pressure numerical model, was used to analyze effect reducing solitary waves by submerged floating rectangular obstacles. It confirmed that model reproduces propagation, breaking, quite well. addition, it deformation obstacles well reproduced. Finally, we conducted an examination Reduced heights are calculated characteristics reduction according dimensions obstacle were analyzed. energy attenuation greater than obstacle, shown be more effective in height.

Numerical Simulation of Solitary Wave Induced Flow Motion around a Permeable Submerged Breakwater

This paper presents a numerical model for the simulation of solitary wave transformation around a permeable submerged breakwater. The wave-structure interaction is obtained by solving the Volume-Averaged Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes governing equations VARANS and volume of fluid VOF theory. This model is applied to understand the effects of porosity, equivalent mean diameter of porous media,...

Boussinesq Modelling of Solitary Wave Propagation, Breaking, Runup and Overtopping

A one-dimensional hybrid numerical model is presented of a shallow-water flume with an incorporated piston paddle. The hybrid model is based on the improved Boussinesq equations by Madsen and Sørensen (1992) and the nonlinear shallow water equations. It is suitable for breaking and non-breaking waves and requires only two adjustable parameters: a friction coefficient and a wave breaking paramet...

Forced solitary waves and fronts past submerged obstacles.

Herein, an efficient numerical method is presented to describe the flow of a liquid in an open channel with various types of bottom configurations. The method is developed for steady two-dimensional potential free surface flows. The resulting nonlinear problem is solved numerically by boundary integral equation methods. In addition weakly nonlinear solutions are derived. New solutions which com...

Numerical investigation of free surface flood wave and solitary wave using incompressible SPH method

Simulation of free surface flow and sudden wave profile are recognized as the most challenging problem in computational hydraulics. Several Eulerian/Lagrangian approaches and models can be implemented for simulating such phenomena in which the smoothed particle hydrodynamics method (SPH) is categorized as a proper candidate. The incompressible SPH (ISPH) method hires a precise incompressible hy...

Dispersive wave runup on non-uniform shores

Historically the finite volume methods have been developed for the numerical integration of conservation laws. In this study we present some recent results on the application of such schemes to dispersive PDEs. Namely, we solve numerically a representative of Boussinesq type equations in view of important applications to the coastal hydrodynamics. Numerical results of the runup of a moderate wa...
